35mm Film vs Digital

From time to time I like to compare film shots with digital. Not to say one is better than the other but to observe the differences. I don't think it’s fair to compare slide film to digital by scanning a slide and then analyzing each image on a digital platform. When you scan film to create a digital image you confine that image to a much more limited color space and dynamic range, effectively truncating the positive attributes of the film while exposing (or exaggerating) the negative attributes. I wish there was a way to show how much better slides look in person, there is so much more detail in the dark areas, contrast and color are much better, and there is so much more overall depth to the image. The scans of slide film here are as close as I could get to what the slides look like on a light table.
See the captions for each shot for more details.

<ol>NOTES: <li>The ghosting on the viewfinder and flash shoe are an anomaly from the scanner, probably internal reflections. There is no such ghosting visible on the film. I'm in the process of determining if there is a solution to this problem.</li>
<li>I kept the viewing angle the same for each of these shots as well as the aperture. The shallower depth of field for 35mm film vs. the DX size sensor of the D300 is clearly visible in each film shot.</li></ol>
