Rolls 20120229-01 and 2 Ektar & Portra Pushed 1x

This gallery contains scans from two rolls of pushed Kodak film. I shot a roll of Ektar 100 at ISO 200 in my Konica AutoReflex T2 and a roll of Kodak Portra 160 at ISO 320 in my Nikon FE2. Basically this was just to see how the film looked with a 1 stop push. The manual focus zooms I like to keep on my cameras are just a tad slow for some things when I'm shooting the ISO 100 and 160 films. I thought if I could get a stop back on the good low ISO film without losing image quality it would be like having an f/2.8 zoom without the size and weight or cost. I was very pleased with the results. There was very minimal increase in grain for either film. The Portra 160 was pushed to nearly the speed of Portra 400 but shows noticeably less grain without any other negative effects. There is no counterpart to Ektar 100 at a higher ISO so if you want that look in a faster film you have to push it. No worries though, it looks great at ISO 200. On a different subject, these rolls were the 17th and 18th rolls developed in a 1 liter batch of Rollei Digibase C-41 chemicals that was 9 months old. I can't say enough good about the Rollei Digibase C-41 chemical kit. It gives very good results with low grain and good contrast. It pushes well. It lasts forever and you can get quite a few rolls in a small batch, 20 is what the instructions say and I'm right there already. I get mine at Freestyle Photographic. That's the only place I've found that sells the kits online.
